The beck had a covered section outside the Methodist Chapel, after it partly collapsed it was almost completely removed. Today just a small footbridge and railing are all that remains.
This old map from 1860 shows were the section of the beck used to be covered, and also the fords across the end of Sledgate and at the crossroads.
